Around Azeroth: How the mighty have fallen

TOO SOON! YOU HAVE AWAKENED ME TOO SOON, EXECUTUS! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF … wait a minute. You’re not my Majordomo. You’re a small orcish child wearing a rather garish hat. Why am I sitting atop a mound of collapsed cake? And why are there sparkles everywhere? By Sargeras, did I finally agree to do one of those kid’s birthday parties that Hakkar is always pestering me about? Sure, I’m hard up for work these days, but there’s something undignified about an elemental lord popping out of a mound of cake. I must have been plastered when I took this job. Oh well. Might as well play it up and give the kid her two pairs of pants so I can go home and sink into a six-pack of the finest Dark Iron Reserve. YOU, INSECT! TASTE THE FROSTING OF SULFURON! (Thanks to Elder Nindle of Moonglade-EU for the Ragnaros pic, enhanced with an Elune’s Candle!) WoW Moviewatch: World of Warcraaack

Those of us around in the EverQuest days will recognize the “crack”ification of a game’s name that can be addicting beyond a healthy level. Not to imply that any amount of crack is healthy. Remember, Turpster says “Don’t do drugs!” But Warcraft? That’s healthy. I mean, I still shower every day. And unlike the Orc protagonist in today’s video I don’t go down and get a big gulp, so I’m better than him. The video is short and to the point, and Yumfries does a good job animating the characters throughout. The audio cuts are a little rough at points, but that can be overlooked rather easily. Worth a chuckle in my book.

Around Azeroth: Hippity hoppity

We’ve gotten many pictures of bunnies today, with representatives from both the Sylvilagus floridanus and the Playboy varieties. But Jyrisha of <Hunger> on The Sha’tar-EU, photographed here by Korona, was undoubtedly the most undead. This must be what happens when the Easter Bunny gets too close to an 18-wheeler on I-95. And if those eggs are intended for our consumption, I think I’ve suddenly become a vegan. Breakfast Topic: Which part of Noblegarden are you most excited about?

Noblegarden is finally here and, boy, is it addictive! Knowing how everyone would be swarming all over Kharanos and Goldshire, I headed for the most isolated, least visited starter town I could think of: Azure Watch. On my low-population server, there were only about another five people after eggs and once you start spotting them hunting becomes insanely addictive. There are already people with their Spring Rabbit’s Foot and the rest have just been turned into purple bunnies. I’m not sure if the latter is cute or just weird. Personally, I’m just ambling along and doing what achievements I can, there’s no hope of me getting the Violet Proto-Drake this year. But, I want to know which part of Noblegarden are you folks are most looking forward to?

Around Azeroth: Of draenei and discipline

Discipline-4-lyfe priest Mutsje of Wildhammer-EU was searching through her screenshot folder recently when she discovered this picture of her first forays into Northrend. Ah, remember back in the day? There was a whole new land to explore, full of mystery and wonder, and characters could take a moment to relax and bask in the glory that is a female draenei in Merciless Gladiator’s without worrying about falling behind on their dailies. But at least wow goldwe can relive the launch of Wrath through the recent server instability and random disconnects. The game may change, but the aftermath of major patches will always stay the same. Blood Pact: Warlock tips for Naxx-10 part 2

It’s time again for Blood Pact, your weekly Warlock column, detailing the dastardly deeds of Warcraft’s demonologists! Nick Whelan returns once again this week, to finish what he started. And this time, it’s personal! Last week, I wrote a column filled with tips for Naxx-10. Specifically, tips for Warlocks, because that’s who Blood Pact is written for. But my list ended up being so long that I was only able to write about the Spider and Plague wings of Naxx before the article started to feel a little bloated. So I chopped it in half, and now it’s time to conclude our tour of the dread citadel with the more difficult sections of the instance: the Construct, Military, and Frost wings! Construct Wing Patchwerk Meta / Ruin Warlocks should be wary of their Intercept > Immolation Aura move, if they choose to use it here. Patchwerk does nasty things to melee who stand in front of him. So be sure to have a Demonic Circle ready, so you can teleport back out again. Affliction Warlocks, if you never bothered to get Ritual of Doom, then you fail. The doomguard adds at least 500 DPS to this fight. Closer to 800 if you have a good selection of buffs in your group. If you take any damage in this fight, that damage would one-shot you no matter how much HP you have. So

The Colosseum: Webin of Terenas

The Colosseum takes us inside the world of the Gladiator (Brutal, Vengeful, Merciless, and otherwise), to interview some of the top Arena fighters in the battlegroups. Our goal is to bring a better understanding of the strategy, makeup, and work that goes into dueling it out for fame, fortune, and Netherdrakes. Season 5 is nearly over. It’s been an odd season, and one predictably dominated by our new friends in the PvP world — the Death Knights. As Zach predicted many moons ago, the rise of the Death Knight and their associated Disease heralded the fall of the Druid. It’s not that Death Knights are necessarily an intended direct counter. It’s just that the dominant team (Death Knight/Paladin) has many great tools against the Druid’s traditional allies. In the face of this new dynamic, the druid Webin has still managed to achieve success. His 2v2 team is 20th on his battlegroup, even while maintaining his four-season partnership with the Rogue Bobblehead. Webin took the time to talk to us about his feelings on Season 5 and the role of druids. Check out what he had to say behind the cut. WoW Insider: Who are your teammates right now? What’s the general plan behind your composition? What challenges does your team have? How do you prefer to run your comp? Webin:

Noblegarden removed from in-game calendar

Thanks to the astute eyes of reader Jadissa, we can report that Noblegarden is no longer present on the in-game calendar. This is likely a clear indicator that the in-game world event is getting pushed back. Based on what we know already (that it will be part of other achievements), it should not be assumed that the event was removed. We’ve spoke about the upcoming changes to Noblegarden before: it might get delayed, and it will be part of the overall world event achievement What a Long, Strange Trip. There has been no indication from Blizzard when exactly it will start up, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go live towards the end of the month. We’ll have to wait and see when this start date is, and we’ll be sure to announce it here on WoW Insider as soon as we know. This is not an April Fools joke.

MI6 marketing awards nominate Blizzard in six categories

Apr 3rd, 2009 Get ready to put a few more awards on the (ever-growing) shelf, Blizzard — MI6, which is a conference about marketing video games, has nominated Blizzard in no less than six different categories for all of their marketing of Wrath of the Lich King. Everything from the Wrath of the Lich King launch campaign in general to the Diablo III logo specifically has been nominated for an award. The TV spots have gotten special attention, too — the entire “What’s your game?” campaign is nominated, as is the Ozzy Osbourne spot in two different categories, for best writing and oustanding TV or theatrical ad. You can download the full list of finalists over on the MI6 site — the wow goldrest of the nominations are kind off all over the place, though the marketing for Fallout 3 is in there quite a bit, including up against Blizzard for best writing, and best overall marketing campaign. The awards are going down in San Francisco on April 8th — good luck to Blizzard on all of their hard work. We still do have one request though: for the next ad, can we maybe get a girl who plays WoW? Sure, a Gnome in the cinematics would be nice, too, but so far, on the TV commercials, it’s been all dudes.
