Around Azeroth: Paws-off parenting

Listen, kid, I love you and all that crap, but I’ve been healing instances all day, and I am beat. I just want some peace and quiet when I come back to Orgrimmar. Is that too much to ask? Why don’t you go bother your dad or something? I think he’s over near the Inn. Tell him to bring me a beer while you’re at it. (Thanks to Serthida of <Elder Tribunal> on Bloodhoof for this picture!) Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We’d love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next! Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word “Azeroth” in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing — use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads with dead gnomes any race at all, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Around Azeroth: Gentrification

The real estate agent assured Carlosol of <Boogie Knights> on Aggramar-EU that his purchase was sound. “Sure, it used to be part of a bad neighborhood,” she said. “But some wandering adventurers came by and cleared out all those nasty prison escapees. Just fix up the inside, and presto, you’ve got yourself a reasonably-priced condo right in downtown Stormwind!” Looking back, he reflected that he might have wanted to press a little more on her “just fix up the inside” comment. He hadn’t expected that the previous owners would leave all of their bloodstained furniture behind. Still, the torture rack would make an excellent dinner table with enough varnish. Around Azeroth: Second star to the right

Time we got under way ourselves, gentleman. Once again, we’ve saved civilization as we know it. Course heading, Capitan? Second star to the right, and straight on till morning… How could I resist another day of SciFi movie quotes? Especially with this picture the Skybreaker sent in by Sylvanan of Ner’zhul. Around Azeroth: Big Bada Boom!

I found this picture that reader Murkowsky sent in while browsing through the archives. It’s of an honest attempt at a fireworks show, complete with many people setting off many different fireworks at the right time. All this happened on the realm Gnomeregan last July. I actually think I was around watching it too. Small world! The shot is nicely timed and the fireworks are nicely placed. Oohhh, ahhhh! That’s amazing! Breakfast Topic: Looking forward to patch 3.3 and the next expansion

So patch 3.2, aka Call of the Crusade, aka the Last Biggie Before Icecrown, has finally dropped. Yay. Woo hoo. Check out the doves we just released. But wait, just take a moment to gawp at the new content. Go on, you deserve it. Hogger’s waiting for you, we understand. Oh hi! Back already? So, let’s look forward to the future shall we? BlizzCon is mere weeks away (excited yet?) and we know with that lovely fanboy/girl certainty — normally reserved for predicting tomorrow’s sunrise — that the next expansion is going to be announced. So, to speak of the future. I’m convinced patch 3.3 will hit before Christmas (I’m guessing around November to coincide with the Warcraft: Death Knight manga). So where does that put us for the new expansion? I can’t see Blizzard waiting a year for the next expansion, not without any new content. But, I digress. Patch 3.3 is now officially incoming, it doesn’t have a name or an ETA but it’s coming. Can you feel it in the air? So readers, what do you think patch 3.3 will herald, aside from Sindragosa and the showdown with Arthas?

Patch 3.2 confirmed for this week on the French forums?

It’s entirely possible that my French is failing me (it’s been a while since I studied it, and it might be getting rusty), but as far as I can make out, this blue post on the French customer support forums claims that patch 3.2 is coming “next Wednesday.” This is in the course of answering a routine question about where to get patch files and so forth – a surprising place for a patch release date confirmation, but I’ll take my info where I can get it. I’m not sure whether “next Wednesday” (“mercredi prochain” in the French) means August 5 (in which case the North American realms would get the patch tomorrow), or whether it means August 12 (in which case we’d get it the 11th), but I’d lean towards the former. So get your ducks in a row, faithful readers, and get ready for the Call of the Crusade.
