Green (color) Gems & Prospecting
In BC, Talasites just plain sucked. None of the cuts were optimal (mostly because the pure stats from blue/red are usually better than yellow ratings.)
So Talasites sold horribly. To add insult to injury, JCs on the profession forums did a whole bunch of tests which showed that Talasites had a 1-2% HIGHER chance of dropping from a prospect. So we crush a lot of ore and end up with a huge stack of Talasites that won’t sell.
Surely, you would think, this variance of drop rates is a bug, that would get fixed in WotLK. So I was unpleasantly surprised to find that wowhead’s Saronite page shows a 5% chance at getting an Emerald, and 3-4% for all the other (blue quality) gems.
This seems like a disservice to jewelcrafters and the gem market in general. Why not have the gems in the greatest demand (red!) be more common to stabilize prices?
Is this variance in green gem prospect rates intentional? If so, why would this
